# Manual Orders

> Create orders for customers from the dashboard, save them as drafts, and finalize them when ready.

## **Overview**

An order is a purchase made for a customer. Customers create orders themselves through checkout, and you can also create them for a customer from the dashboard — no API call needed.

There are two kinds of manual order:

* **Subscription orders** put a customer on a plan. They're created with the same form as a [manual subscription](/manual-subscription).
* **Single purchase orders** sell one-off items: [single purchases](/single-purchase) and [one-time charges](/One-time-charges).

Both can be saved as a **draft** and finished later. You can also create orders through the [Create Order API](/api-reference/orders/create).

## **Creating an Order**

1. Go to **Billing → Orders**.
2. Click **Create Order**, then choose:
   * **Create Subscription Order** — opens the [Assign Subscription](/manual-subscription) form.
   * **Create Single Purchase Order** — continue below.
3. Select the customer.
4. Under **Select Items**, choose the single purchases and charges to sell and set each quantity.
5. Optionally, add any of the customer's unpaid order invoices under **Consolidatable Invoices** to bill them together with this order.
6. Click **Create Order** to finalize it now, or **Save as draft** to finish it later.

## **Draft Orders**

A draft order is saved without being invoiced or charged.

* Open a draft from **Billing → Orders** (Draft tab) to change its customer or items.
* Click **Finalize Order** when it's ready. Finalizing creates the order's invoice.
* Drafts can be deleted. Once an order is finalized it can no longer be deleted.

Subscription drafts are also listed when you assign that customer a subscription, so you can pick up where you left off.

## **Managing Orders**

From **Billing → Orders**, open an order to:

* **Mark as fulfilled** — for single purchase orders, once you've delivered what was sold. This can't be undone, and isn't available for subscription orders.
* **Cancel order** — with an optional reason.
